The existing house consisted of a pair of small 18th century cottages with low ceilings. The brief was to construct a new family room on the end of the house with a greater feeling of space and light.
The system chosen is a timber frame for walls and roof, clad with cedar and the voids filled with recycled paper insulation. Heat for the new room is provided by underfloor heating.
